Ahead of my trip to Greece later in the year (hopefully), I figured I would try Plaka to train my tatse buds as they usually are not cooperative. I am not a fan of greek salad so that didn't help either. I enjoyed my meal nonetheless.
The waiter made some good suggestions. The greatest hit was the pastry with feta and spinach. The other brown balls had cheese. Salty but delicious. I tried the falafel, I am not sure what they are meant to taste like but they didn't go down well. Are they meant to be that dry? Either way. I can confirm that I do not like them.
Besides the torn couch, the space is clean and airy. The service was good too and fair value for money.
Food: The food was well prepared. I had the Fillet Greco, I think I'm yet to taste a better fillet. The person I was with had the whole linefish it was also good. No complaints.
I had the Galaktabouriko, I am not a dessert person but I enjoyed it. Not too sweet at all. If you don't have a sweet tooth then give it a try.
Atmosphere: The waiter was welcoming. The ambiance was great as well.

When it comes to authentic Greek food, you simply can’t go wrong with Plaka. A few months ago, I visited Plaka in Eastgate, shortly after I’d actually just returned from an amazing holiday in Santorini and Athens. Suffice to say, the experience was nothing short of a truly Greek one. The Plaka in Eastgate is situated in the newly revamped eating zone of the mall. The restaurant has a light and airy feel to it with touches of calming blue tones. My benedict and I decided to keep it simple and opted for the ‘Meze for Two’. This meal boasts a variety of typical Greek foods that are perfect for those who enjoy trying a little of everything (like me). The ‘Meze for Two’ started out with a simple pita and dip. It was soon followed by chicken souvlaki, shish kebab, calamari, haloumi, falafel, zucchini, tomato and onion salad and hand cut potato chips. The chicken souvlaki was beautifully cooked; it was tender, juicy and flavoursome. The calamari was also delicious with a subtle chargrill flavour and a squeeze of lemon. One of my favourite dishes was the haloumi – perfectly cooked and authentically served (without sweet chilli - unlike the ever so popular saffa version). I also thoroughly enjoyed the grilled zucchinis which brought an element of freshness to the meal.
